recent travels and appearances. . .

An interview on Montana Public Radio's The
Write Question let me explore issues
ranging from the why I write for young adults to the part that photographs play
in my writing.
*
Here in Montana, I gave a talk with
non-fiction writer Dorothy Hinshaw Patent at the Montana Festival of the Book.
* I
went
to Provo, Utah, for the Brigham Young University Writing for Young Readers
Workshop. (And I'll be returning to for this year's workshop in June,
2008. Again, I'll be leading a workshop on novel writing.)
* To Chicago for the
International Reading Association annual conference where Bruce Coville
and I keynoted the Young Adult Luncheon.
* To
New York to accept a
Christopher Award for HITCH.
* To Missouri for the Central
Missouri State University Children's Literature Festival. (I'll be
returning for this year's special anniversary festival,also, in March,
2008.)
* To Pittsburgh for the National
Council of Teachers of English annual convention, where I took part in an
Assembly on Literature for Adolescents panel on historical fiction, along with
Michael Cadnum, William Durbin, Graham Salisbury, and Diane Lee Wilson.
* And to schools from New York to the
Midwest to Montana to Idaho . . .
