Here in Montana, I gave a talk with
non-fiction writer Dorothy Hinshaw Patent at the Montana Festival of the Book
and spoke to young adult literature classes at the University of Montana.
* I
went
to Provo, Utah, for the Brigham Young University Writing for Young Readers
Workshop. where I again taught a workshop on novel writing (and again
enjoyed working with some great students).
* To Chicago for the
International Reading Association annual conference where Bruce Coville
and I keynoted the Young Adult Luncheon.
* To
New York to accept a
Christopher Award for HITCH.
* To Missouri for the Central
Missouri State University Children's Literature Festival.
* To Pittsburgh for the National
Council of Teachers of English annual convention, where I took part in an
Assembly on Literature for Adolescents panel on historical fiction, along with
Michael Cadnum, William Durbin, Graham Salisbury, and Diane Lee Wilson.
* And to schools from New York to the
Midwest to Montana to Idaho and Washington State. . . .
